On Thursday, the British government released a new crime report that said it had made 1.8 million arrests in 2018 and 2.2 million stops last year—more than ever before. As law enforcement officers keep up their relentless pursuit of criminals around the country, one thing remains certain: they are not going to catch everyone who is a criminal or has committed crime
England 20 0 Latvia is a match between England and Latvia. This match will be played at Wembley Stadium in London, England on June 2nd, 2019.
Ellen White eclipsed England’s and Arsenal’s Kelly Smith’s previous goal-scoring record.
England defeated Latvia to win their biggest-ever competitive victory, with Ellen White becoming the Lionesses’ all-time leading scorer.
White, 32, broke Kelly Smith’s record with her hat-trick, giving her 48 goals in 101 England games.
The Manchester City striker broke the mark in only nine minutes, sprinting to the corner flag with her arms spread, then dropping to the ground and grasping her shirt.
When the new record was announced over the speaker at the Keepmoat Stadium, White’s teammates raced over to celebrate as well, applauding as they took their places for the retake.
Lauren Hemp of Manchester City scored four goals – her first in female England uniform – while Beth Mead of Arsenal and Alessia Russo of Manchester United both scored hat-tricks.
At the home of her first club, Jess Carter scored her first international goal, Manchester United’s Katie Zelem made her debut, and Millie Bright led the side.
There were ten different England goal scorers in all, with Ella Toone, Georgia Stanway, Bethany England, Jill Scott, and Jordan Nobbs rounding up the scoring.
The win brought an end to England’s tumultuous 2021 campaign, but it was also the ideal way to finish off Sarina Wiegman’s outstanding World Cup qualifying campaign so far.
With six victories in six games and 53 goals scored without reply, England is atop their World Cup qualification group.
Their 20-0 triumph eclipsed their previous best competitive victory, a 13-0 win against Hungary in 2005.
White receives a standing ovation for his heartfelt performance.
After scoring her second, record-breaking goal, Ellen White sank to the floor in joy.
Latvia is ranked 94 places behind England in the international rankings, and after defeating them 10-0 only a month ago, it was never supposed to be a match in Doncaster.
White’s chase of the goalscoring record drew all of the attention leading up to the game, and she didn’t keep fans waiting long.
Because of England’s ruthlessness in the first 23 minutes, the scoreboard operator was overwhelmed by the activity and incorrectly displayed the score as 6-0 when it was still only 5-0, until Mead ensured the goals caught up with the scoreboard.
The damage had already been done in the first few minutes, resulting in a carnival atmosphere at the Keepmoat, complete with drums, Mexican waves, and a slew of flags in the stands.
Unsurprisingly, the loudest applause came when White broke the mark; the obviously moved striker closed her eyes and took it all in while clutching the emblem on her jersey.
As she walked down the tunnel at halftime, she was welcomed on the touchline by friend and City teammate Scott, before being applauded by fellow substitutes Fran Kirby and Demi Stokes.
White has gone from Lionesses centurion to record goalscorer and hat-trick hero in only three days.
She will remember this week for the rest of her life, and she deservedly earned a standing ovation when she was replaced early in the second half.
Full-time scenes were equally noteworthy. Four match balls were brought out for the four players who scored three or more goals, and White taunted fans in the grandstand about throwing hers to them.
On such a historic occasion, it’s perhaps understandable that she chose to retain it and kick it ahead of her as she joined the rest of the England squad on a lap of honour.
